Abbazia Santa Maria Del Bosco

I have come back from 1 nights stay last week. We had 3 rooms here, and aside from the family, we were the only guests. I think this has been said before by a previous reviewer. This unique stay can not be measured against anything else. It really can't. My only complaint to myself is not staying longer. This is just history personified, service outstanding, and in truth, you are allowed to relax and freely roam and enjoy your surroundings. I pretended the monastery was mine (in my mind!!) And wandered around taking in its sheer, aggressive beauty and history. We had a 3 course meal (mine adapted for my fussy tastes) and served attentively. The food was wonderful. Bottles of wine purchased separately at a very reasonable charge, anywhere from €15-40 per bottle. Happy hour by the stunning pool. Breakfast with the family on opulent table Oh my heart!!!! Please do the guided tour also, I learned a lot of history. Just a slight reality check that this location is remote - once there.. you relax and stay.

This is a place that should not be measured against regular standards. Of course, food is good, service kind and room great, but the essence of this magnificent place is its history, its overwhelming atmosphere of past glory and present care and the urge one feels just to enjoy this impressive location. We spent just one night there already a year ago but it remains a vivid and amazing memory for the two of us. A true 'wow' experience.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Abbazia Santa Maria del Bosco the ancient Benedictine abbey dating back to 1300. The former monastery is immersed in the green of the natural reserve of Mount Genuardo. It’s quiet, isolated and serene. The rooms are large en-suite and extremely comfortable. We stayed 2 nights and had two delicious evening meals in the large dining room on a shared table and enjoyed to company of other guests including a couple who were artists from France travelling the world who told us about their work. All the staff were friendly and helpful including Marcia who took us in a tour of the monastery and the grounds.

We had a wonderful stay in Abbazia Santa Maria del Bosco. The place is amazing with is old ancient Charme.The food was amazing and the staff very nice. We had the pool only for us and could really calm down. It would be amazing to have the possibility to eat outside as the rooms are quite dark. The courtyard might be a chance. Will come again. Unique location and experience between food, hospitality and nature. I guess something you’ve rarely or never seen before. Setting expectations: the roads to get here can be bumpy, and the hotel rooms have their share of basic level non exclusive touch. This is one of the beauties, you’re in a unique and ancient Abbazia, and as I write this review from my room I hear so many birds singing and overlook one of the stunning chiostros it offers. Highly suggested.

Family home atmosphere, perfectly calm and peaceful. A great place to cool off from the heat (stone walls). Breakfasts and dinners on a common table with other guests. We had a little history tour with the young owner about the Abbey which was really nice. The architecture is absolutely stunning, and to be sleeping in such a monument is an amazing experience. We got some great recommendations for the rest of our Sicily tour to. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

This is truly the most amazing “Hotel” I have ever stayed... The history, the ambiance, the hospitality, the service, simply the raw beauty of this idyllic place is breathtaking! Set on an amazing landscape on the mountains of Central Sicily, the Abbey’s ambiance and hospitality sucks you in in its unique history. Sleeping and eating in the very same rooms (now elegantly renovated) where monks hundreds of years ago used to pray for reaching divinity, is an unmatched experience. Coupled with the hospitality and the genuine locally and abbey produced and cooked fresh ingredients and food, is the perfect success story. This place has the whole package for a potential 7stars e.g. Four Seasons Retreat... that awaits you to be discovered and fully experienced within the true heart of Sicily.
